Electronics Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a talented and innovative Electronics Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Pretoria. You will be responsible for designing and developing high‑quality electrical systems, from concept through implementation, supporting exciting projects in power electronics and battery management.

Key responsibilities

• Design electronic circuits, multilayer PCBs, and power electronic systems.
• Develop Battery Management Systems (BMS) and DC‑DC power conversion solutions.
• Create schematics, PCB layouts, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Gerber files, and technical documentation.
• Perform circuit calculations, component selection, thermal analysis, and efficiency optimisation.
• Execute prototype testing, validation, debugging, and performance verification.
• Conduct functional, thermal, reliability, and environmental testing of hardware.
• Troubleshoot design issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams throughout product development.
• Support prototype assembly, production release, product certification, and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure compliance with electrical, safety, EMC, and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic product development.
• Proven experience designing and testing complex PCB assemblies.
• Experience with Battery Management Systems, battery energy storage, or renewable‑energy products.
• Experience supporting products from concept through production release.

Required skills

• Electronic circuit design and mixed‑signal design (analog, digital, power).
• Multilayer PCB design, schematic capture, layout, and Gerber generation.
• Battery Management System (BMS) development and DC‑DC converter design.
• Thermal analysis, efficiency optimisation, and component selection.
• Prototype testing, validation, debugging, and reliability testing.
• Compliance with electrical safety, EMC, and quality standards.
