District Engineer – Electricity Distribution (Coastal)

About the role

The District Engineer (Coastal) for Electricity Distribution will lead the planning, operation and maintenance of the municipal electrical network along the coastal area. The role ensures reliable power supply, compliance with regulations and effective management of outages and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee all electrical network operations, including scheduled outages and major power failure responses.
• Ensure sub‑station infrastructure, high‑voltage protection and metering meet wiring legislation and standards.
• Lead investigations into incidents and accidents related to the electrical network.
• Implement occupational health and safety requirements in line with the OHS Act.
• Manage distribution and operational sections and control the financial operational budget.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and registration with ECSA, or N6 Electrical Engineering with an Electrical Trade test and a Wireman’s licence.
• Minimum five years’ experience in electrical distribution, including two years in a management position.
• Computer literate and holder of a valid Code B/EB driver’s licence.
