Dispatcher, Bus Services Operations Depots

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting a permanent dispatcher for its Roads and Transport Management Department (2024). The position is based in the City of Ekurhuleni and covers dispatching buses from the depot, coordinating drivers and managing bus availability for all services.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch buses so that services run on time and bus drivers report for duty on time.
• Give drivers instructions about shifts and special hire trips.
• Check that the destruction boards information on buses is accurate before they leave the depot.
• Manage bus availability for all services, book buses back into the depot after special hire trips and arrange replacements for breakdown buses.
• Ensure buses are clean when leaving the depot and help with inspections on return to identify damage or problems.
• Oversee security guards on duty and report issues to the senior operations officer.

Required profile

• Grade 12.
• Valid code C, EC or EC1 (04) driver's licence with PrDP.
• 3 years of experience in Bus Services Operations.
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
