Director CIPSET Engagement and Transformation

About the role

The University seeks a strategic leader to head the Centre for Critical Interdisciplinary Practice in Social Engagement and Transformation (CIPSET). Reporting to senior university management, the Director will shape research, public engagement and advocacy that address societal challenges in community, adult, worker and vocational education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the Centre’s research, engagement and advocacy agenda.
• Design and implement a coherent programme aligned with institutional priorities and societal needs.
• Advance interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship.
• Build and sustain strategic partnerships locally, nationally and globally.
• Lead flagship and signature projects, ensuring impact and transformation.
• Drive fundraising initiatives and secure external funding for sustainability.
• Oversee governance, financial, human‑resource and operational management of the Centre.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on programme outcomes using appropriate frameworks.
• Promote the Centre’s visibility and public profile.

Required profile

• A relevant doctoral degree with an established research and publication record.
• 8‑10 years of experience in higher education or a related sector.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in programme development, stakeholder engagement and institutional leadership.
• Strong understanding of critical theory, social justice and engagement paradigms.
