Diesel Mechanic – Farming, Forestry & Workshop (Greytown)

About the role

This permanent, live‑in position is based in Greytown and focuses on the maintenance, repair and servicing of farm and forestry vehicles, equipment and machinery. The successful candidate will also carry out health and safety inspections and general workshop duties in a rural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, service and maintain tractors, bulldozers, bakkies, Bell loggers and other farm vehicles.
• Repair and service Husqvarna and Stihl chainsaws.
• Maintain water pumps used for firefighting.
• Conduct routine health‑and‑safety inspections on all machinery.
• Perform general workshop duties, keep the workshop clean and manage administration such as job cards and service registers.
• Control workshop stock, issue petrol, oils and diesel.
• Respond to on‑farm breakdowns and emergency call‑outs, including standby every second weekend.
• Carry out hydraulic pipe repairs, grinding, welding and other fabrication tasks as required.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Mechanical, Electrical or Auto‑Electrical.
• Minimum 3 years proven experience as a diesel mechanic in a farm, forestry or agricultural workshop.
• Practical experience with tractors, loggers, bulldozers, bakkies and chainsaw repairs.
