Depot Manager – Permanent

About the role

The Depot Manager will lead the Durban container storage depot and transport operations, ensuring efficient, cost‑effective service delivery. This senior position oversees all activities from receiving and assessing containers to repairs, storage, and dispatch preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Yard Operations, Reefer Department, Maintenance, Transport, Workshop, Staff Training, Stores, Health & Safety, and Financial Controls.
• Prepare monthly business results and KPI reports.
• Ensure compliance with legal, industry, and shipping regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, agents, vendors, and customers.
• Identify and develop new revenue opportunities and continuous improvement strategies.

Required profile

• Proven management experience in the container storage or logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of occupational safety standards (e.g., OSHA).
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical abilities.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with refrigerated containers is preferred.
