Debtors Controller

About the role

The Debtors Controller will manage the full debtors function for assigned branches, ensuring timely collection and optimal credit control. Reporting to the Regional Manager, Branch Manager and Credit Manager, the role is pivotal for maintaining cash flow and supporting sales growth.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor credit limits, collect outstanding amounts and maximise collections across assigned branches.
• Follow‑up all accounts weekly, keep system notes up‑to‑date and ensure compliance with approved credit terms.
• Prepare and send month‑end customer statements by the 2nd day of the following month.
• Process invoices, credit notes, loyalty rebates and customer refunds within defined timeframes.
• Maintain accurate customer records in Syspro, including credit applications, supporting documentation and file management.
• Review and adjust credit limits regularly, liaise with credit insurers and ensure proper coverage.
• Oversee loyalty customer accounts, coordinate card printing, and resolve ageing queries.
• Process daily payments against invoice discounting accounts and reconcile debtor balances as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a debtors or credit control function, preferably within a multi‑branch environment.
• Strong understanding of credit limits, collection processes and month‑end procedures.
• Ability to work independently while reporting to senior management.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
