Debtors Clerk

About the role

We are looking for a Debtors Clerk to join our finance team and work closely with the Financial Manager to support daily operations and overall effectiveness of the department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing customer accounts and ensuring accurate and timely collection of outstanding debts for Chery International.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and send invoices to clients for goods/services rendered.
• Monitor customer payments, allocate daily bank statements and finance payouts.
• Perform weekly balancing of debtors and creditors, including intercompany accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and review aging reports and summaries of outstanding debts, following up on overdue accounts with sales teams.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and resolve billing queries professionally.
• Upload transactions into ledgers and maintain costing on stock and ledger control.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and financial regulations and maintain filing systems for financial documentation.
• Assess creditworthiness of dealers based on outstanding payments and update accountant on invoicing.

Required profile

• Matric (National Senior Certificate).
• Bookkeeping or accounting certificate (advantageous).
• Minimum 1‑2 years’ experience in a full‑function debtors role within the automotive industry.
• Further studies in finance or accounting are advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Familiarity with IAL dealership management system.
• Familiarity with SAP accounting system.
