Data Engineer – Transform Data & Build Predictive Models

About the role

The Data Engineer will leverage data, analytics, statistical modelling and machine learning to generate actionable business insights. You will transform complex data from multiple sources into meaningful information, predictive models and visualisations that support strategic decision‑making and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in discovery sessions with business stakeholders to identify problems suitable for statistical modelling or machine learning.
• Interpret and map data structures across various internal databases to enable analysis and continuous monitoring.
• Advise on data collection strategies, including the use of third‑party data sources where relevant.
• Support data integrity and cleansing activities to improve data quality.
• Automate and continuously improve data and reporting processes.
• Develop and maintain data models that proactively identify business risks and promote accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
• Computer Science or related degree (essential); honours degree in Data Science is advantageous.
• 3‑5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Experience with Databricks (essential).
• Strong ability to code in SQL (essential).
