Data Engineer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a fully remote, international team. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and advanced data systems, helping global organisations turn massive, complex datasets into actionable insights for biotech, pharma and enterprise analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines across multiple environments and sources.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data into data warehouses and data lakes.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and developers to ensure data quality, consistency and accessibility.
• Build and refine database schemas, data models and technical documentation.
• Implement data governance, security standards and compliance best practices.
• Monitor data systems and continuously improve integrity, scalability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong backend‑oriented Data Engineer with solid experience in Python.
• Proficiency with modern data engineering practices and clean, scalable architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows.
• Ability to integrate data from APIs, databases and streaming systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems or large‑scale data processing tools.
• Understanding of data governance, security and data quality principles.
• Experience in life‑sciences, biotech or related domains is a strong plus.
