Data Engineer – Digital Delivery Project

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Digital Delivery Project team in Cape Town. You will work closely with the Technical Development Manager and contribute to the company’s digital transformation across mineral processing facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust data structures and pipelines for collection, transformation, storage and integration across platforms.
• Set up and administer database‑centred engineering software applications and object‑oriented SQL databases.
• Configure and manage data storage solutions, including object‑oriented SQL databases and cloud repositories.
• Develop advanced digital engineering workflows and generate intelligent engineering drawings using 2D CAD tools.
• Stay current with digital engineering trends, especially those relevant to mineral processing facilities.
• Follow project‑specific and company procedures to ensure high‑quality, consistent deliverables.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of post‑graduate experience in data engineering or related fields.
• South African citizenship or permanent residency, based in Cape Town.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented SQL database design and administration.
• Data architecture, integration and pipeline development (including APL).
• Proficiency with 2D CAD software such as Revit, Autodesk Plant 3D, Bentley OpenPlant Modeller, Siemens COMOS, DesSoft, MicroStation, AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
