Cyber Security Engineer I

About the role

Capitec is looking for a motivated Cyber Security Engineer to protect its cloud environments and support the bank’s digital services. The role focuses on AWS, Azure, Salesforce and Microsoft 365, combining operational monitoring with engineering tasks and continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and secure cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Salesforce, Microsoft 365) and keep security systems up‑to‑date.
• Run vulnerability assessments, apply encryption and prevent threats such as SQL injection.
• Monitor alerts, investigate incidents, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Document configurations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Support security audits, collaborate with external experts and contribute to policy updates.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (advantageous).
• 2‑3 years of experience in cyber security, IT security or a related technical field.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS; familiarity with Azure, Salesforce and Microsoft 365 is beneficial.
