Customer Assistant – Customer Service Desk

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant on the Customer Service Desk, where you will be the first point of contact for shoppers in a busy corporate store environment. You will deliver friendly, efficient service, handle transactions accurately and support stock management while upholding the brand’s high standards of honesty and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and acknowledge them promptly.
• Answer product and service queries, providing clear and helpful information.
• Process sales, returns and exchanges using the till system with precision.
• Maintain accurate cash handling and reconcile tills at the end of each shift.
• Monitor and replenish stock on the service desk, ensuring items are correctly displayed and labelled.
• Identify and resolve customer issues, escalating when necessary.
• Adhere to dress code, attendance and time‑keeping standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF qualification.
• Availability and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends.
• Previous experience in retail or customer‑facing roles is advantageous.
• Strong verbal communication skills and a courteous demeanor.
• Basic numeracy and literacy for accurate transaction processing.
• Demonstrated honesty, reliability and ethical conduct.
• Attention to detail in stock and cash handling.
• Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
