Credit Controller

About the role

A Credit Controller is responsible for managing the company's accounts receivable: tracking money owed by customers, recording payments received, identifying overdue accounts and following up with customers to recover outstanding debts. The role also includes basic bookkeeping to keep financial records accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overdue accounts proactively and follow up with clients as needed
• Match invoices against requisitions, purchase orders and goods received notes for quantity, quality, description and price
• Ensure requisitions, purchase orders and invoices are properly authorised within the right levels of authority
• Complete the debtors control sheet daily and comply with quality management system requirements
• Liaise with customers to secure timely payments and build strong relationships
• Forward remittance advices to suppliers after each payment run
• Provide regular reports on receivables and overdue accounts to senior management
• Promptly pay invoices and claim discounts where applicable
• Help prepare quarterly cost/profit centre reports and ensure invoices match the contracts
• Use the correct general ledger and vendor accounts when processing invoices in the accounts payable module
• Carry out any other ad-hoc duties assigned

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or degree in Finance
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Credit Controller
