Cost Accountant – 7‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

GEOTECH is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant for a 7‑month fixed‑term contract to support its Eastern operation plants. The role is based in South Africa and requires the candidate to reside near the plant locations.

Key responsibilities

• Control and allocate operational costs and prepare cost budgets.
• Produce cost reports, manage the asset register, and oversee purchasing and pricing controls.
• Execute month‑end financial processes and collaborate with operations and plant management.
• Implement and maintain a spare‑parts inventory management system, monitor stock values, and ensure adequate inventory levels.
• Maintain warehouse housekeeping standards.
• Supervise, coach, and mentor staff members.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with accounting as a subject.
• Degree in Finance, Cost & Management Accounting; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in cost management and inventory control.
• Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
• High level of confidentiality and professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Residence in proximity to the Eastern operation plants and willingness to travel between sites as needed.
