Copywriter

About the role

Avbob Mutual Assurance Society is seeking a creative Copywriter to join its Brand and Advertising team. You will craft compelling copy for a variety of marketing channels, helping shape the voice of one of South Africa’s most trusted insurance brands.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise and write persuasive copy for brochures, websites, social media, catalogues, posters, press ads and internal communications.
• Collaborate with the creative team to develop innovative campaign concepts.
• Conduct research to support and strengthen copy content.
• Maintain brand consistency and quality across all advertising materials.
• Write, edit, proofread and refine promotional, advertorial and digital marketing content.
• Create localized social media posts that highlight community impact at branch level.
• Update website content to reflect current campaigns and initiatives.
• Review external contributions for alignment with brand and regulatory standards.
• Monitor social media platforms to enhance brand positioning and product visibility.
• Ensure compliance with FSCA guidelines and internal advertising standards.
• Support content strategy development for emerging digital platforms.
• Assist with quarterly proof‑reading of the internal magazine “The Society”.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, Art or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of copywriting experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Proven ability to conceptualise ideas and proofread content.
• Strong command of grammar, tone and brand voice.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and time‑management skills.
