Consultant Urologist – Full‑time Permanent (Aberdeen)

About the role

The NHS Grampian Urology Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is seeking two full‑time permanent Consultant Urologists – one core position and one with a special interest in reconstruction. The role involves delivering specialist urological care across a regional service that includes major pelvic cancer, robotic surgery, and stone management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality core urology services to the NHS Grampian population.
• Deliver specialist procedures such as robotic surgery, HOLEP, and lithotripsy.
• Develop and lead reconstruction pathways for complex cases.
• Collaborate with the academic team at Aberdeen University on research and teaching.
• Contribute to service development across Grampian and the wider North of Scotland.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (must be in place before start).
• Higher specialist training (FRCS Urology or equivalent) leading to CCT, or entry on the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
• Eligibility for CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration for substantive posts.
• Internationally recognised specialist qualification approved by the GMC is acceptable.
