Consultant Urologist (full-time, permanent)

About the role

The NHS Grampian Urology Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is seeking two full‑time permanent Consultant Urologists. One post focuses on core urology services, while the second requires a special interest in reconstructive urology. Both roles will join a progressive, university‑linked team delivering regional pelvic cancer, robotic, and stone services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality consultant‑level urological care across all major subspecialties.
• Lead and develop services in robotic surgery, lithotripsy, and HOLEP.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support academic activities with Aberdeen University.
• Contribute to service development for Grampian and the wider North of Scotland.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (must be in place before start).
• Higher specialist training (FRCS Urology or equivalent) leading to CCT, or within six months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Eligibility via CESR or Portfolio Pathway for substantive consultant posts.
• Ability to work collaboratively and forward‑thinking in a teaching hospital environment.
