Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS & Adult (Wheatbelt)

About the role

Northam Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist care across Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and adult psychiatry in the Wheatbelt region. The role involves delivering high‑quality clinical assessments, leading service development and supporting multidisciplinary teams in community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and deliver evidence‑based treatment for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.
• Provide clinical leadership, advice and consultation to GPs, allied health professionals and carers throughout the region.
• Drive implementation of the Infant, Child and Adolescent Taskforce recommendations.
• Chair CAMHS clinical reviews and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local GPs, the Chief Psychiatrist and community stakeholders.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, mentorship and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialist registration in psychiatry.
• Experience in both CAMHS and adult psychiatry, preferably within a community health setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive service innovation.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other Wheatbelt sites (e.g., Narrogin, Merredin, Gingin).
