Community Manager

About the role

WPP Media South Africa is seeking a proactive Community Manager to champion the brand across social platforms. You will create a distinct social persona, engage with online audiences, and drive brand awareness through authentic community interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute short‑ and long‑term social media strategies that align with the client’s brand and reputation goals.
• Manage day‑to‑day editorial content, community development, and real‑time monitoring of conversations.
• Drive dialogue, resolve issues quickly, and adhere to platform‑specific protocols.
• Produce and curate daily content such as customer videos, thought‑leadership pieces, infographics, blog posts, and contributed articles.
• Coordinate community postings with the broader Social Media team across all digital channels.
• Track metrics and trends, report insights, and recommend opportunities for engagement.
• Alert the Social Media Manager to emerging issues and collaborate on resolutions.
• Network with community members to foster meaningful relationships and increase participation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing online communities and advocating brands on social networks.
• Strong understanding of marketing, social media dynamics, and issue‑management campaigns.
• Ability to educate internal stakeholders on social media best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and a knack for building relationships.
