About the role

The Commis Chef position is an entry‑level role within the culinary team of a leading hotel brand. You will work under the guidance of senior chefs to develop fundamental cooking techniques while supporting daily kitchen operations. The role focuses on mastering basic tasks, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Attend daily shift briefings to stay informed about operational requirements.
• Communicate regularly with supervisors to ensure clear instructions and feedback.
• Wear the full chef’s uniform and adhere to personal hygiene and grooming standards.
• Support and motivate kitchen colleagues, fostering a professional and disciplined atmosphere.
• Promote health and safety by keeping knives and tools clean and well‑maintained.
• Follow the Food Safety Programme and maintain strict hygiene practices.
• Apply a “clean as you go” approach, keeping all kitchen areas tidy.
• Assist with routine and deep cleaning using approved products and methods.
• Manage stock rotation using FIFO, ensure proper labeling, and handle accurate storeroom requisitions.
