Commercial Manager - Malawi

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, sea and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent, full-time Logistics Commercial Manager for Malawi. The role leads the commercial strategy, oversees sales and marketing, builds key client relationships and ensures the profitability and growth of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the commercial strategy for operations in Malawi and develop plans to expand the market and grow revenue.
• Identify new business opportunities, partnerships and customer segments, and build strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
• Monitor market trends, customer needs and competitor activity.
• Oversee sales and marketing to meet revenue targets, set pricing strategies and run promotional campaigns.
• Ensure sales channels and distribution networks function efficiently.
• Work with the finance team to keep the department within budget and report on financial performance.
• Manage and mentor a team of commercial staff, set objectives and run training programmes.
• Deliver excellent customer service, resolve complaints promptly and act on customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations and manage business risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Finance or a related field (MBA preferred).
• Proven track record of driving business growth and achieving sales targets.
• In-depth knowledge of the Malawian market and business landscape.
• Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting and P&L management.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, results orientation and adaptability to changing markets.
