Cloud Architect

About the role

The Cloud Architect will define, design and govern the organisation's cloud strategy, architecture and implementation roadmap. This role ensures cloud platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, cost‑effective and aligned with business and technology objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, principles and reference architectures.
• Define cloud adoption roadmaps aligned to business and technology strategies.
• Design secure, scalable, highly available and resilient cloud solutions across modernisation, data platforms, AI and digital initiatives.
• Ensure solutions comply with security, risk, regulatory and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement cloud security controls and monitoring.
• Promote operational excellence through automation, monitoring and observability.
• Drive cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
• Provide architectural guidance during planning, budgeting and project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 8–12 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in cloud architecture roles.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise‑scale cloud solutions and leading migration or modernisation programmes.
• Experience with hybrid and multi‑cloud environments; experience in financial services, banking or insurance is a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Virtual networks, software‑defined networking, VPN, ExpressRoute, load balancing and traffic management.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling.
• Kubernetes (CKA) and container orchestration.
• FinOps and cloud cost optimisation practices.
• Enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
