Clinical Educator - Speech-Language Therapy

About the role

The University of Cape Town invites applications for a permanent Clinical Educator position (25 hours per week) in the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, within the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The successful candidate will help strengthen and develop the Division, with an emphasis on the Speech-Language Therapy programme, and will contribute through clinical education, academic scholarship, service delivery, leadership and administrative work.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical education of undergraduate students
• Develop practice learning sites for optimal student learning and inter-disciplinary collaborative practice
• Scholarship to enhance practice and professional development
• Develop clinical education and community practice curricula
• Leadership, administrative and management duties at divisional and departmental levels
• Maintain and develop practice learning sites

Required profile

• Qualified Speech-Language Therapist with a relevant bachelor's degree
• Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience, including community service
• 2 years of experience facilitating clinical supervision and education of university students
• Demonstrable experience in adult communication and swallowing disorders and community development practice
• Registered speech-language therapist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, with compliant CPD status
• Advantage: a relevant master's qualification and clinical education or academic administration experience in a university Speech-Language programme

Annual cost of employment (25 hours per week), including benefits, is R 559 750.
