Client Accountant – Trust & Company Financial Reporting

About the role

The Client Accountant will join a collaborative team operating from Cape Town and Johannesburg. Reporting to the Client Accounting Team Leader, you will be responsible for maintaining accounting records and delivering accurate financial statements for on‑shore trusts and companies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain entity ledgers and trial‑balance level information for trusts and companies.
• Prepare timely financial statements and statutory returns.
• Systematically file client agreements and coordinate invoicing actions.
• Work with relationship managers to gather data for financial, tax and statutory reporting.
• Liaise with Trust Administrators and Middle Office teams to ensure supporting documentation is complete.
• Produce reports for client meetings, local and international tax purposes.
• Manage tax compliance for allocated individuals, trusts and companies, ensuring adherence to legislation.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting graduate with completed SAIPA Articles and professional exam passed.
• Practical experience in financial services, preferably with trust and company structures.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Registered Tax Practitioner or willingness to complete SARS readiness program during interview.

Required skills

• Strong accounting knowledge, including IFRS for SMEs.
• Understanding of trusts, investment statements and financial statement interpretation.
• Technical proficiency in Caseware, Xero and Microsoft Office.
• Exceptional communication and ability to manage competing priorities.
