Civil Engineering Technician – Project Delivery

About the role

The Technician (Civil Engineer) will join the Civil Engineering Department in Cape Town, supporting the Project Delivery Team. This hybrid position combines on‑site supervision with project management, ensuring civil engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage project plans, budgets and timelines.
• Monitor progress, implement corrective actions and report on status.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and internal teams to align goals and deliverables.
• Prepare and maintain site records, progress reports and cost tracking documentation.
• Supervise on‑site construction, ensuring design and safety compliance.
• Conduct conditional assessments and provide input on repairs, upgrades and new works.
• Oversee bulk earthworks, sewage pipe laying, structural brickwork and concrete works.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures and material testing.
• Issue site instructions and ensure contractor adherence to specifications.
• Calculate quantities, manage procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing and overseeing civil engineering projects from planning through execution.
• Ability to work closely with senior project managers, department heads, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills to handle documentation, reporting and resource coordination.
