Child Health Specialist – Fixed Term (UNICEF)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Health Specialist to support immunisation programmes, health‑systems strengthening and emergency preparedness initiatives across South Africa. The position is based in Pretoria and focuses on programme management, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership development to improve health outcomes for children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate immunisation and child health programmes in alignment with UNICEF strategies.
• Conduct monitoring, evaluation and reporting of health interventions.
• Engage with government, NGOs and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships.
• Support health‑systems strengthening and emergency preparedness activities.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to implementing partners.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in public health, medicine, or a related field.
• Experience in managing health programmes, preferably in immunisation or child health.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
