Chief Risk Officer - Risk Management Unit

About the role

The Office of the City Manager of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality is recruiting a Chief Risk Officer for its Risk Management Unit (Task Grade 17, reference 155/26). The post sits within the Directorate of Corporate Services and supports the municipality's enterprise risk management framework.

Key responsibilities

• Identify current and possible risks in the municipality's overall operations
• Assist Council and Senior Management in establishing and communicating the Enterprise Risk Management objectives
• Help integrate risk management with strategic development processes
• Assist the Accounting Officer in developing and communicating risk management policies
• Develop risk mitigation strategies for critical risks and monitor them
• Implement risk reporting to the Accounting Officer, Senior Management and Council
• Provide administrative support to the Risk Committee
• Monitor and update the risks register

Required profile

• BCom degree in Auditing and Risk Management and/or B-Tech degree in Auditing and Risk Management
• Five years of audit/risk management experience, of which three years at managerial level
• Valid code B/EB driver's licence
• Computer literate
