Chief Construction Project Manager (Grade A)

About the role

The Western Cape Government is seeking a senior leader to oversee the planning, delivery and commissioning of large‑scale infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Infrastructure Programme Delivery Head Office, the Chief Construction Project Manager will drive performance, ensure compliance and mentor a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain infrastructure programme and project plans in line with the Infrastructure Delivery Management System (IDMS).
• Lead project implementation, monitoring progress and ensuring timely commissioning.
• Evaluate programme outcomes and conduct research on emerging technologies and best practices.
• Manage financial aspects of projects, including budgeting and cost control.
• Oversee contract administration, with a focus on NEC contracts.
• Provide people management, mentoring and performance development for staff.

Required profile

• National Higher Diploma, BTech, Degree or Honours in a Built Environment discipline.
• Registered Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr CPM) with SACPCMP.
• Minimum six years post‑qualification experience in construction project management.
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the Western Cape and occasionally nationally.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
