Channel Representative - Commercial Operations

About the role

MTN is looking for a Channel Representative for its Commercial Operations team in Polokwane. The role provides innovative solutions, executes merchandising plans and maintains MTN standards so that stores perform well in line with regional sales operations channel strategies. It also trains distributors and ensures that promotions and plans are implemented correctly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day training and communication of merchandising plans, including execution, support and guidance to distributors in the assigned region.
• Meet or exceed retention and acquisition targets through customer-centred service.
• Roll out merchandising plans and promotions to distributors and stores, ensuring they follow the Promotional Brief and MTN standards.
• Follow the regular call cycle for store visits, update the Retail Database with new and closed stores, and use the Globe Trotter in trade daily.
• Build and maintain relationships with distributors and stores, negotiate point-of-sale presence and identify opportunities to improve channel performance.
• Execute visual and point-of-sale merchandising, collaborate with Marketing and the Trade Partner Supervisor, and deal with escalated trade partner queries.
• Compile daily reports for visited sites (reported weekly), compile channel reports and give regular feedback to management.
• Manage training targets, including booking versus attendance, and deliver on-the-job training at distributor and store level, including POE.
• Keep expenditure within budget, identify cost savings and revenue opportunities, and ensure promotional materials comply with corporate identity and MTN standards.
• Ensure compliance across the Informal Indirect, Direct, Retail and Branded channels and act on non-compliance.
• Work with OEMs to make sure dummy units and point-of-sale displays are available.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a specialised area, with experience working with others.
• Experience working in a small to medium organisation.
