Bus Services Operations Depot Manager

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for a manager to run its bus depot. The role covers administration, finance, operations and technical matters, and includes managing and controlling all personnel and assets while complying with passenger transport legislation. The aim is to maximise income and minimise expenditure.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise, motivate and control the bus depot
• Set performance standards for depot employees and train subordinate staff
• Write and submit items for committee and council consideration, and handle internal correspondence and reports
• Apply for amendments and additions to public permits
• Assist in compiling staff budgets
• Ensure bus coupons and ticket machines are kept safely
• Evaluate bus routes and passenger volumes continuously
• Maintain good personnel relations and look after the buying and issuing of uniforms and protective clothing
• Control shifts, routes, timetables and tariffs
• Protect council assets used by the depot and attend road transportation board meetings
• Compile reports on writing off assets

Required profile

• Diploma in Transport Management
• 5 years of bus operation management experience
