Bus Depot Dispatcher

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting a dispatcher for its bus services operations depots. The dispatcher ensures buses are dispatched on time, conveys shift and special-hire instructions to drivers and keeps the depot's bus fleet ready for every service.

Key responsibilities

• Despatch buses so that services run on time and drivers report for duty on time.
• Tell bus drivers about their shifts and special-hire trips.
• Check that the destruction board information on each bus is correct when it leaves the depot.
• Manage bus availability for all services, book buses back into the depot after special-hire trips and arrange replacements for breakdown buses.
• Maintain buses as clean as possible when they leave the depot and help inspect them on return to spot damage or problems.
• Oversee security guards on duty and report any issues to the senior operations officer.

Required profile

• Grade 12.
• Valid code C, EC or EC1 (04) driver's licence with PrDP.
• Three years of experience in bus services operations.
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
