Bridge Engineer – Candidate Level

About the role

AECOM South Africa is seeking a Candidate Engineer to contribute to the design, rehabilitation and inspection of bridges and related structures on local and international projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and planning of new bridges, culverts, and other road and rail structures in accordance with TMH7 and relevant codes.
• Rehabilitation and upgrading design of existing bridges and drainage structures.
• Oversee preparation of construction drawings and project specifications.
• Inspect bridges and culverts per TMH19 and apply AECOM Quality Management System.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of experience, including site experience.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and deliver accurate work.
• Good communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in structural design software such as Midas, Sofistik, RM Bridge, CSiBridge.
• Experience in bridge and civil structure design and inspection.
• Familiarity with international regulations and standards (AASTHO, AREMA, Aus‑Codes, BS, etc.).
