Brand Manager (Fashion) - Cape Town

About the role

A fashion brand house is looking for a Brand Manager in Cape Town to deliver a balanced product range and assortment of merchandise in line with company strategy. The role builds a close relationship with the UK-based Brand Principal and is accountable for the effective leadership and profitable management of the brand. Only South African citizens are eligible.

Key responsibilities

• Drive brand strategy to achieve financial performance in line with agreed objectives.
• Lead the full buying process, including range architecture and development, design, production and procurement of seasonal product ranges.
• Negotiate prices with local and international suppliers and build professional relationships with them.
• Coordinate planning and budgeting, including post-seasonal analysis, market feedback, trend analysis and retail shopping lists.
• Collaborate with Planning on sales plans, profitability targets and pricing architecture, and with Marketing on the brand marketing strategy.
• Ensure the range meets both wholesale and retail strategies and work with Retail Operations on seasonal retail and wholesale visual merchandising, applying brand standards.
• Influence brand DNA across retail and wholesale channels.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Buying or Brand Management in fashion apparel or accessories.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in a brand or buying capacity.
• Experience in a fashion, wholesale or retail environment is advantageous.
• Ability to travel extensively.

Required skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership.
• Computer literacy in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
