Branch Manager – Express Courier (Medium Branch)

About the role

Our client, a leading express courier and logistics organisation, is looking for an experienced Branch Manager to run a medium‑sized branch in Johannesburg. You will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of operations, from parcel collection (First Mile) to final delivery (Last Mile), while meeting service, operational and financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily branch operations, ensuring achievement of operational and financial objectives.
• Manage First Mile activities: schedule collections, monitor performance and enforce service level agreements.
• Oversee Last Mile delivery: coordinate routes, resolve issues and drive delivery efficiency.
• Control fleet and owner‑driver resources, optimise utilisation and monitor costs.
• Supervise parcel processing, ensuring accurate scanning, sorting and dispatch.
• Develop and coach branch staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Manage the branch budget, monitor profitability and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and company standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a logistics or courier branch of similar size.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills.
• Solid understanding of First Mile and Last Mile processes.
• Experience with budget control, cost management and KPI monitoring.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
