About the role

This position is for a dynamic Stockman to manage a well‑established beef cattle operation in the Vryburg District. The role combines hands‑on livestock care with administrative duties, and includes on‑site accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate effectively via meetings, email and WhatsApp with owners, junior manager and farm staff.
• Monitor herd health, performance and nutrition for 1,600 cattle (Simmental, Brahman, Droughtmaster) and 60 sheep.
• Maintain accurate herd records, production data and performance metrics using Excel.
• Reconcile herd numbers on a quarterly basis.
• Prepare animals for auction and marketing, including feedlot management for 400 feedlot animals.
• Supervise staff within the livestock department.
• Maintain infrastructure such as fences, water points, energizers and equipment.
• Work occasional weekends (Saturday until 13:00) with monthly days off.

Required profile

• Fluent in reading, writing and speaking both English and Afrikaans.
• Willing to reside on‑farm, 70 km from the nearest town, in a 4‑bedroom house with power and Wi‑Fi.
• Married couples welcome; no school‑aged children due to logistical constraints.
• Active, energetic and preferably a non‑drinker.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data recording and analysis.
