Associate Director – Valuations Modelling & Economics

About the role

Ernst & Young is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead valuation modelling and economics engagements within its Transaction Advisory Services practice. The role combines client relationship management, technical valuation work, and team leadership to support a range of transactions and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Secure and enhance relationships with senior client management and internal EY partners, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.
• Lead report generation and coordinate valuation engagements for M&A, financial reporting, tax compliance, restructuring and corporate strategy.
• Identify valuation issues, develop innovative analyses, and manage engagement risk in line with EY policies.
• Review team deliverables promptly, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior staff.
• Present findings to clients through reports and presentations, maintaining professional relationships throughout the engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in business, finance or accounting with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, commercial banking, or a valuation practice.
• Professional accounting designation (CA, CFA, CPA, etc.).
• Proven track record of valuation transactions (e.g., JSE IPE opinions, PPAs, fair value assessments).
• Demonstrated business development and client‑facing abilities.
• Commitment to staying current with financial and accounting standards.
