Assistant Manager, Operations, WMS Controller

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Operations – WMS Controller will act as the key user of the Warehouse Management System, ensuring its effective use, supporting daily warehouse activities and driving continuous improvement across operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for warehouse staff on WMS‑related issues and provide timely troubleshooting.
• Monitor system performance, validate transactions and run queries, reports and basic system maintenance.
• Support system roll‑outs, user acceptance testing (UAT) and training programmes for all warehouse users.
• Act as liaison between warehouse operations, IT teams and management to align system functionality with business needs.
• Analyse inventory accuracy and productivity KPIs, perform root‑cause analysis and recommend process enhancements.
• Participate in lean warehousing initiatives and process automation projects.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with strong computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Minimum 2 years experience in logistics, supply‑chain or warehousing.
• At least 1‑2 years experience as a system super‑user, key‑user or support role.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and ability to travel within Gauteng and internationally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with WMS software such as Blue Yonder, Dispatcher, JDA or Red Prairie.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to run system queries, generate reports and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Data analysis and root‑cause problem‑solving capabilities.
