Assets Management Manager – Budget & Treasury

About the role

The Umzimvubu Local Municipality is seeking a qualified professional to lead its Asset Management function within the Budget & Treasury directorate. This permanent position is responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant management of municipal assets and stores.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement plans for efficient management of assets and stores.
• Oversee the Asset Management system, procedures, and controls.
• Monitor key performance indicators and team performance in the Asset Management section.
• Manage acquisition, receipt, and disposal processes for municipal assets.
• Ensure compliance with statutory financial functions and MFMA asset regulations.
• Oversee capital and operating budgets for Asset Management, maintaining expenditure within approved limits.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting Management or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in local government, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of MFMA Asset Regulations.
• Valid driving licence and proven experience with financial systems.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with the full Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency in financial management information systems.
