Asset Management Systems Engineer (Civil Engineering)

About the role

Zutari, a multinational buildings, infrastructure engineering and advisory firm with over 90 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Asset Management Systems Engineer with a background in Civil Engineering. The role sits with the asset management consulting team, which develops planning, analytical and software solutions for clients facing the challenges of ageing infrastructure. On-the-job training is provided in the systems used by clients, in software development, and through close collaboration with Zutari's Digital team.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients in developing and implementing best-practice software and AI applications that strengthen their asset management capability.
• Analyse large asset datasets for infrastructure lifecycle analysis, predictive modelling and investment optimisation.
• Prepare plans, analytical frameworks, outcome reports, manuals and project documentation.
• Help prepare client presentations and take part in client workshops.
• Conduct business analysis with clients to define user needs and scope functional solutions, and help develop client solutions, system integrations and tactical dashboards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders so that project objectives and deliverables are met.
• Provide client consulting, presentations, training and support, including change management.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Civil Engineering; evidence of progression toward professional registration is advantageous.
• 2-5 years of overall experience.
• Valid South African driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to travel to South Africa and Africa, including remote areas, for periods of a few days to weeks on an ad hoc basis.

Required skills

• Advantageous: knowledge of databases such as GIS, MS Access and SQL Server.
• Advantageous: knowledge of Claude.ai and ChatGPT applications, software development experience, ERP systems and previous asset management experience.
• Problem-solving, communication and technical report writing skills.
