Area Manager – Johannesburg & Mpumalanga

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious retail leader to take full operational and financial ownership of a cluster of branches in Johannesburg and Mpumalanga. You will act as a strategic driver for regional revenue growth, market‑share expansion and exceptional customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Implement local sales initiatives and promotional campaigns to exceed turnover and profit targets.
• Conduct regular branch visits and audits to maintain operational standards, visual merchandising, cleanliness and cash management.
• Coach and manage Branch Managers, set performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability.
• Ensure compliance with South African gambling regulations, licensing, FICA and POPIA, mitigating operational risks.
• Monitor customer service metrics, resolve escalated issues and drive retention through mystery‑shopper feedback.
• Analyse competitor activity, identify new store or partnership opportunities and introduce localized strategies to boost foot traffic.

Required profile

• National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field.
• 4–5 years of operational management experience in a customer‑facing retail or hospitality environment.
• At least 4 years of proven multi‑site leadership, managing several locations simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to manage P&L, analyse turnover, drive sales growth and oversee cash reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of FICA, POPIA and South African gambling regulations.
