Quality Assurance Manager – Wine Production

About the role

Origin Wine Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Quality Management and Control function for its wine production operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining strategic quality systems that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and manage the Quality Management System, ensuring alignment with BRC, IFS and IPW certifications.
• Oversee laboratory research and development, cost control and new product introductions.
• Lead people management activities, including performance appraisals, recruitment and training of QA staff.
• Monitor performance against standards, handle customer complaints and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain health, hygiene and safety compliance in line with the OHS Act and the company’s Hygiene Management System.
• Support laboratory staff on new techniques and coordinate wine‑making and bottling innovations.
• Manage certification audits, surveillance and re‑certification processes.
• Communicate quality objectives across all departments and ensure work instructions are up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Proven experience in quality control/assurance within the wine or beverage industry.
• Strong background in managing certification programmes (BRC, IFS, IPW).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop QA teams.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and hygiene standards.
• Experience with laboratory R&D and product development processes.
