Accounting Officer – Assurance Graduate Programme

About the role

PwC is looking for a motivated Accounting Officer to join its Assurance practice in South Africa. You will be part of a three‑year graduate programme, working alongside experienced auditors to obtain reasonable assurance on financial statements and support clients in meeting regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a full range of accounting and audit activities, including testing controls and evaluating financial statements for material misstatement.
• Assess compliance with regulations, governance frameworks and risk‑management processes.
• Gather information from multiple sources, analyse data, and identify patterns or issues.
• Prepare and issue audit reports that reflect the auditor’s opinion.
• Learn and apply PwC’s professional and technical standards while upholding the firm’s code of conduct and independence requirements.

Required profile

• Curious, reliable team player with a strong learning mindset.
• Ability to adapt to diverse client environments and take ownership of deliverables.
• Excellent communication skills, active listening and the capacity to give and receive feedback.
• Commercial awareness and interest in understanding how businesses operate.

Required skills

• Understanding of audit and assurance standards.
