Accountant – Manufacturing (Atlantis, Western Cape)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Atlantis. This hands‑on position offers exposure to financial accounting, taxation, payroll, reporting and business advisory functions, supporting the company’s performance and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and perform bank, debtor, creditor and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs, the Companies Act and relevant South African legislation.
• Conduct cost analysis, support budgeting and forecasting, and assist with annual financial statements and reviews.
• Prepare and submit VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, income tax returns and manage SARS audits.
• Oversee monthly payroll processing and ensure PAYE, SDL, UIF and IRP5 compliance.
• Manage supplier and debtor portfolios, monitor ageing reports and resolve queries.
• Review junior team members’ work, provide mentorship and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of IFRS for SMEs, the Companies Act and South African tax legislation.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QlikView or Expedyte
• Solid knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
• Familiarity with the Companies Act and South African tax legislation
