Accountant

About the role

Widney Transport Components, a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions serving the bus and train industry, is hiring an Accountant in Alberton, Johannesburg. The role supports the business by generating, analysing and reporting financial information so that stakeholders can make informed decisions, while ensuring production and financial data from suppliers and sites are entered accurately and on time into the APDP SAP system. This keeps the business compliant with ITAC regulations and helps maximise cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and report financial results and review the costing structure regularly to optimise profitability.
• Support finance in compiling budgets and forecasts, and monitor expenditure against targets.
• Manage petty cash by controlling the float, processing vouchers and submitting supporting documents on time.
• Liaise with stakeholders and departments to investigate issues and improve financial performance and profit margins weekly and monthly.
• Produce quarterly SMD certificates for auditor and ITAC use, audit C1 certificates, complete and renew the EPC certificate, and submit duty drawback OEM claim reports to maximise claim recovery.
• Work with Shared Services, Shatterprufe, Toyota, Wispeco, Baires, Coastland Sales, KPMG and APDP suppliers on documentation aligned to ITAC regulations.
• Ensure the business follows internal policies, external legislation and good corporate governance.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Financial Accounting and Grade 12.
• 4 to 5 years of financial accounting experience.
• Knowledge of good corporate governance, financial accounting principles, budget management and working knowledge of IFRS.
• Intermediate computer skills in Word and Excel, verbal and written communication, analytical and reporting skills, and a systematic, deadline-oriented approach.
