Accountant – High‑Volume Retail Finance Role

About the role

We are seeking a meticulous Accountant to join a leading South African luxury fashion retail group. The role focuses on processing a high volume of daily transactions and maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of premium brands.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and process approximately 2,000 bank transactions each day.
• Perform bookkeeping functions and keep financial records up to date.
• Process and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts, including supplier statements.
• Prepare and maintain reconciliations for various accounts.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in Pastel accounting software.
• Write up books and maintain accounting records in line with company policies.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting position.
• Proven ability to handle high‑volume transaction processing in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience managing debtors, creditors, supplier accounts and performing reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Required skills

• Pastel accounting software.
