Accountant – Full Ownership of Numbers

About the role

We are looking for an experienced accountant to take full ownership of the accounting function for a portfolio of entities within a leading construction and infrastructure support business. Based in Johannesburg, you will work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting processes for multiple small to large entities, including transaction processing, month‑end close and reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and tenant invoicing.
• Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Oversee debtor management and maintain accurate financial records.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to aid business decisions.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience performing the full accounting function.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple entities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Pastel accounting software (mandatory).
• Experience with Xero (advantageous).
• Knowledge of South African accounting standards and regulations.
