Accountant – Finance Function Lead in Mining & Gas Investment

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to lead the finance function for an investment group operating in the mining and gas sector. The role combines traditional accounting duties with commercial insight to support investment performance and operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full finance function up to the preparation of management accounts.
• Prepare journals, reconciliations and conduct balance‑sheet reviews.
• Execute month‑end processes and assist with financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash‑book activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Assist with audit preparation and ensure statutory compliance.
• Maintain accurate financial records and strengthen internal controls.
• Provide management with financial insights and operational support.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Completed articles with at least 2 years post‑articles experience, or 3–5 years commercial accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle.
• Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Exposure to mining, gas, energy or investment industries is advantageous.
