Accountant – Corporate Finance & Reporting

About the role

The Accountant will support the preparation of monthly management reports, annual consolidated financial statements and general corporate accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial data for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle to trial balance, including general ledger processing and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Close the general ledger each month after all journal entries are posted.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and load payments into the banking system.
• Prepare and submit VAT201 returns and monthly audit schedules for the balance sheet and income statement.
• Explain budget‑to‑actual variances and liaise with operational departments on discrepancies.
• Prepare year‑end accounts, coordinate with external auditors and compile annual BEE financial schedules.
• Analyse business trends, costs and revenues to forecast future performance and advise management on tax strategies and resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
• BCom degree or equivalent.
• Completed Articles and at least 3 years of commercial accounting experience.

Required skills

• Pastel Evolution accounting software (advantageous).
