Accountant / Bookkeeper

About the role

Our client, a well‑established hospitality business, is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their finance team. The role is fast‑paced, handling high‑volume transactions, invoicing, and daily reconciliation of point‑of‑sale data, particularly from Yoco.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily financial transactions in Xero, matching purchase orders to supplier invoices and delivery notes.
• Generate and issue customer invoices, allocate them to appropriate cost centres, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Download, interpret and reconcile Yoco sales reports against bank deposits and Xero records, investigating any discrepancies.
• Maintain an organised filing system (digital and/or physical) for all financial documentation.
• Support month‑end activities including accruals, general ledger entries, and ad‑hoc reporting for the Financial Manager.
• Track budgets per venue/event and assist with procurement and supplier negotiations.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related field (advantageous).
• 2–3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, retail or another high‑transaction environment.
• Proven ability to process large volumes of invoices and orders accurately.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero Accounting software.
• Working knowledge of Yoco POS reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and basic reconciliation formulas.
